On National Cancer Survivors Day® – Sunday, June 6, 2021 – people around the world will unite to recognize cancer survivors, raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face, and – most importantly – celebrate life. If you want to honor the cancer survivors in your community, now is the time to start planning your National Cancer Survivors Day® 2021 celebration.
The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation has everything you need to plan your NCSD 2021 celebration, whether you’ll be celebrating cancer survivors in-person or online! It’s all available – free of charge – at ncsd.org.
If you want to bring the National Cancer Survivors Day® celebration to your city, just follow these 5 essential steps.
Step 1: Register Your National Cancer Survivors Day® Event
Register your NCSD event online at ncsd.org/register to gain access to the exclusive NCSD Speakers Bureau Roster, which has contact information for nationally recognized celebrities and keynote speakers available for in-person and virtual events. Registering your NCSD event will also unlock access to other valuable resources, including free copies of Coping® with Cancer magazine. There is no cost to register, but you must register your event each year to use the copyrighted National Cancer Survivors Day® name and logo.
Step 2: Choose Your NCSD Event Location or Virtual Platform
Traditionally, NCSD celebrations have been held at hospitals, cancer centers, sports stadiums, conference centers, art museums, local parks, and botanical gardens. This year, many people are holding their celebrations online, or are hosting drive-through NCSD events. Check out this NCSD blog for some excellent tips for hosting socially distanced and virtual National Cancer Survivors Day® events.
If you are holding an in-person event, keep in mind that some locations allow for better social distancing than others. And, no matter what location you choose, be sure to follow all local COVID-19 rules and regulations.
Step 3: Pick a Theme for Your NCSD Celebration
Planning your National Cancer Survivors Day® event around a central theme is a surefire way to make your Celebration of Life fun and memorable. Check out our National Cancer Survivors Day® Themes page for a ton of creative event theme ideas.
Step 4: Order Your National Cancer Survivors Day® T-shirts and Keepsakes
Give cancer survivors attending your NCSD event something to remember it by with official National Cancer Survivors Day® keepsakes, available to order from the NCSD Merchandise Catalog. If you’re hosting a virtual event, you may want to consider setting up a drive-through pickup spot to distribute event materials and NCSD keepsakes.
And don’t forget to order your NCSD 2021 t-shirts! Featuring our trademark survivor celebrating life – a symbol of victory for the millions of people living with and beyond cancer – the NCSD 2021 t-shirt is available in sizes Small to XXXL.
The extended deadline to order National Cancer Survivors Day® t-shirts and merchandise is April 8.
Step 5: Get the Word Out About Your NCSD Celebration
NCSD.org has the tools you need to promote your National Cancer Survivors Day® Celebration of Life. You can even download customizable press releases to send to local media and a sample proclamation for your town’s mayor to declare Sunday, June 6, 2021, National Cancer Survivors Day® in your city.
