How to Bring National Cancer Survivors Day® to Your Community in 5 Simple Steps

National Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual, unforgettable Celebration of Life for anyone who has been touched by cancer. Now in its 35th year, NCSD is one of the largest cancer survivor events in the world.

Held every year on the first Sunday in June, National Cancer Survivors Day® is a day for everyone to join in solidarity with cancer survivors around the world. On this day, tens of thousands of people will gather in cities across the globe to recognize cancer survivors, raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face, and – most importantly – celebrate life

You can be a part of it by organizing a National Cancer Survivors Day® event in your city on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Now, if you’re ready to bring the National Cancer Survivors Day® celebration to the cancer survivors in your city, just follow these 5 steps.

Step 1: Register Your Event

Register your NCSD event online at ncsd.org/register to gain access to the exclusive NCSD Speakers Bureau Roster, which has contact information for nationally recognized celebrities and keynote speakers available for in-person and virtual events. Registering your NCSD event will also unlock access to other valuable resources, including free copies of Coping® with Cancer magazine. There is no cost to register, but you must register your event each year to use the copyrighted National Cancer Survivors Day® name and logo.

Step 2: Choose Your Location or Virtual Platform

NCSD celebrations are held at hospitals, cancer centers, sports stadiums, conference centers, amusement parks, art museums, local parks, churches, mosques, synagogues, botanical gardens, and even online. The NCSD blog has some excellent tips for hosting socially distanced and virtual National Cancer Survivors Day® events.

Step 3: Pick a Theme

Planning your National Cancer Survivors Day® event around a central theme is a surefire way to make your Celebration of Life fun and memorable. Check out our National Cancer Survivors Day® Themes page for a ton of creative ideas.

Step 4: Order Your NCSD T-shirts and Keepsakes

Give cancer survivors attending your event something to remember it by with official NCSD keepsakes, available to order from the NCSD Merchandise Catalog.

And don’t forget to order your NCSD 2022 t-shirts! Featuring our trademark survivor celebrating life – a symbol of victory for the millions of people living with and beyond cancer – the NCSD 2022 t-shirt is available in sizes Small to XXXL.

The deadline to order t-shirts and merchandise is April 4.

Step 5: Get the Word Out

We have all the tools you need to promote your National Cancer Survivors Day® Celebration of Life. You can even download customizable press releases to send to local media and a sample proclamation for your town’s mayor to declare Sunday, June 5, 2022, National Cancer Survivors Day® in your city.

Let the NCSD Event Planning Begin!

From its small beginnings as a grassroots survivorship movement in 1987, National Cancer Survivors Day® is now one of the largest cancer survivor events in the world. It is a day to celebrate how far we’ve come in cancer survivorship. But it is also a day to draw attention to the challenges cancer survivors still face, and to advocate for more resources, research, and legislation to improve cancer survivors’ quality of life.

You don’t want to miss National Cancer Survivors Day® 2022! Now is the time to start planning your NCSD celebration for Sunday, June 5, and the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation is here to help.
