Using the NCSD Name and Logo

The name “National Cancer Survivors Day®” (NCSD) and the NCSD Logo can only be used to organize, promote and conduct an official NCSD event that has been registered with the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, Inc. (Foundation); no other use is authorized. The Foundation strongly recommends that your event be held on the first Sunday in June. If this date is not feasible, official NCSD events may take place at any time during the month of May or June.

The Logo design (survivor in circle) cannot be altered, but may appear in any color and may be placed on backgrounds of varying types and colors; however, the official NCSD colors are red (PMS 186), white, and blue (PMS 286), and their use is encouraged to show unity.

The name “National Cancer Survivors Day®” can be used in any font (typeface), but must be followed by the ® registration mark. It can be used as part of any logo (like a flower) created to theme a registered NCSD event.

While the purchasing of official NCSD merchandise from the NCSD Foundation is encouraged in order to promote a unified image, the NCSD Logo and/or the name “National Cancer Survivors Day®” may be used on any merchandise specifically produced by the coordinator of a registered NCSD event, but only for distribution at the event.

Any published material including, but not limited to, books, pamphlets, and educational materials may contain the NCSD Logo and/or the name “National Cancer Survivors Day®” if it is distributed exclusively in conjunction with a registered NCSD event, and if the material clearly indicates the name of the organization that has produced the material.

Your organization is solely responsible for complying with all local and state sales tax laws applicable to the distribution of NCSD merchandise and materials you produce, and that you obtain from the Foundation.

Registration and Authorization

There is no membership fee required to be a participating organization and hold a National Cancer Survivors Day® (NCSD) event in your area. Funding for the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, Inc. is provided primarily through the generosity and support of its sponsoring organizations that are dedicated to providing a better quality of life for cancer survivors, and recognition of these national sponsors is encouraged.

You must register your organization’s event each year in order to use the “NCSD Marks” (described below) to promote your event. The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, Inc. and the owner of the NCSD Marks (collectively “the Foundation”) request that you conduct your event along the general guidelines found on the NCSD website, NCSD.org. National Cancer Survivors Day® and the NCSD Logo (survivor in circle) are federally registered service marks. Upon receipt of this registration form by the Foundation, your organization is also granted a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the NCSD Marks through June 30, 2022, to promote your NCSD event; no other use is authorized.

In order to present a unified image, the NCSD Logo (survivor in circle) should appear on all promotional material you produce. The NCSD Logo should not be altered or modified in any way. Your organization’s use of the NCSD Marks is under the control of and subject to the quality standards of the Foundation, and all uses by your organization of the NCSD Marks shall inure to the benefit of their rightful owner and the Foundation.

Upon receipt of your registration form by the Foundation, your organization shall indemnify and hold harmless the rightful owner of the NCSD Marks and the Foundation, as well as their agents and employees, against all claims, demands, liability, suits, actions or losses, including all reasonable expenses and attorneys’ fees, incurred by or imposed by the rightful owner and the Foundation, its agents or employees through claims, demands, suits or actions of third parties involving the services provided by your organization and using the NCSD Marks.

Nothing in the materials provided by the Foundation shall mean to imply that your organization and the Foundation and its sponsors and underwriters are joint venturers or partners in NCSD. Your event is independent of all others, and you assume full responsibility and liability. The purchase of event insurance is recommended.

Upon registering your event, your organization will automatically receive the Foundation’s information, including the e-Newsletter.
