Today – June 2, 2024 – is National Cancer Survivors Day®. Welcome to the celebration!
Thousands of people in hundreds of communities around the world are celebrating life with you today.
On this 37th annual Celebration of Life, we come together – as cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, and friends – to lift up all people who are living with a history of cancer and to bring attention to the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face.
Today is a day to stand alongside the cancer survivors in our communities and make a commitment to lessening the burden of cancer survivorship. It is a day to advocate for more resources, research, and legislation to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors.
It is also a day to celebrate.
Today, let’s celebrate life. Because cancer survivorship isn’t about just being alive. It’s about living life as fully as possible. And we believe all cancer survivors deserve a life with less complication and more celebration.
Who is a cancer survivor?
The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation defines a survivor as anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. National Cancer Survivors Day® offers your community an opportunity to show that it has a valuable and vital cancer survivor population, as well as to make a commitment to improving the lives of cancer survivors.
Help us raise awareness for cancer survivors.
As the number of cancer survivors continues to increase, it is becoming ever more important to address the unique needs of this growing population. In addition to facing a serious illness, cancer survivors must contend with rapidly rising medical costs; inadequate insurance coverage; difficulty finding or keeping employment; and ongoing physical, psychological, and financial struggles that persist even after treatment ends – sometimes for the rest of their lives.
Today, we want to send the message that cancer survivorship isn’t about just being alive after cancer. It’s about living life as fully as possible. Help us raise awareness by sharing a post like this one to your social media pages:
