On Sunday, June 6, people around the world commemorated National Cancer Survivors Day® 2021. In hundreds of cities throughout the nation – and across the globe – cancer survivors and supporters came together to celebrate life and let the world know that life after cancer is about more than just survival.
The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation would like to thank the NCSD event coordinators who spent countless hours planning Survivors Day celebrations in their towns and cities, despite the challenges of COVID-19. National Cancer Survivors Day® could not happen without the hard work and dedication of local NCSD event coordinators who work tirelessly to bring the Celebration of Life to the cancer survivors in their communities.
The Foundation also offers its sincere gratitude to the national supporters who played a vital role in making National Cancer Survivors Day® 2021 possible through their generous financial contributions. NCSD 2021 was supported by Agios, Amgen, Astex Pharmaceuticals, Bluebird Bio, Bristol Myers Squibb, ConvaTec, Coping with Cancer magazine, Elekta, Exelixis, GE Healthcare, Janssen, Karyopharm Therapeutics, Novocure, and Taiho Oncology.
Finally, the Foundation would like to thank the cancer survivors who celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day®, whether at a local Celebration of Life or in their own unique way. These cancer survivors are the reason we celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day® each year.
National Cancer Survivors Day® exists to acknowledge cancer survivors, to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face because of their disease, and – most importantly – to celebrate life. It is also a call to action to increase cancer survivors’ quality of life by addressing the unique physical, emotional, financial, and social burdens these survivors face.
Once again, the Foundation would like to offer a sincere thank-you to everyone who supported and took part in National Cancer Survivors Day® 2021. Together, we have made great strides in spreading the message that life after cancer is about more than just survival – it’s not just the length of life that matters, but also the quality of that life.
